I keep this website politics-free 99% of the time. This is the 1% when I’m pissed off.
We live in evil times.
Recently, a local Malaysian publication The Edge published details on how the people of Malaysia were cheated of USD 1.83 Billion.
Instead of congratulating them as heroes, the Malaysian authorities suspended their publication license for 3 months.
I have my opinion on who’s guilty, and I’m sure you do too. But this is not about that. This is about freedom of press. If the press is silenced, how will we know when there’s abuse of power and corruption?
So to show my support for The Edge and freedom of press, I’ve purchased one hundred 3-month subscription plans (worth RM 30 each) of their new digital publication: digitalEdge. And since you’re my beloved reader, I’d like to give a copy to you for free.
If you’re interested, all you need to do is: Fill up the box at the top of this page with your:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
That’s all. I’ll send your email to The Edge, pay on your behalf, and you’ll start receiving digitalEdge in your email for 3 months* (from August 3 to October 26, or earlier should the suspension be lifted before the expiry of the three month period).
You can find out more about digitalEdge here.
p.s. By filling up the box above, you’ll be added to my mailing list, where I send emails to my readers about once a month.
p.p.s. I’m limiting this offer to the first hundred replies I get (priority given to existing readers already on mr-stingy’s mailing list). Unless I get really pissed off, then maybe I’ll extend the promotion to more people.
#Isupporttheedge and I hope you’ll do something for your country too,
On behalf of my Malaysian compatriots, I thank The Edge for your courage to make the sacrifices that you had. In the name of integrity and honour for all Malaysians, I also thank Mr-Stingy, should among your one hundred.
